Russian Architects, Arch Group, have created what we’ve all thought of at one time or another. A temporary, mobile, hotel room or sleeping pod that we can rent out for a few minutes or a few hours to get some rest and privacy when travelling. Ideal for airports and train stations, or even those awkward shopping mall moments for those spouses who hate to shop! These “pods” are completely private (soundproof and light proof) and come equipped with laptop hookups & charging station, wi-fi hookups, an LCD tv, ventilation system, sound alerts, and a bed that has fresh bed linens (a soft pulp tissue, softer than the paper at the doctor’s office) which roll from one spool to another when used with each use. Traditional loose bedding, sheets, and pillows can also be rented out if preferred. ![]()

The only drawback I see is that there is no built in washroom facility, and it really would be only enough room for one person to use at a time. But maybe they’ve done this intentionally to make sure it’s not a “couples only” type activity box.

Very interesting, but a problem without a bathroom. Then you have to run out half asleep with everyone watching. . . not fun.
I think maybe the intent was for a shorter term stay than say an overnighter at a hotel room. Airports do often have hotels attached if you want a full night's sleep and shower. Maybe this is more for a power nap or that kind of thing.
hey dale, thanks for your comments! this sleep pod is cool! the only problem, besides the washroom which you've already noted might be the fact that people strolling airports or malls might knock on them, or try to bother people since they are so wide open plunked in such public spaces. there will always be people who will try to ruin a perfectly good time, or sleep. but still, what a genius idea! :)
