The 136 room Hilton Hotel in Windhoek, Namibia is a beautiful edition to the capital’s Centra Business District revitalization project. The architectural design is by local architects Wasserfall Munting Architects, and the interiors are by California’s SFA Design. The hotel is a contemporary retreat geared at business travelers. The themes of the hotel design are subtle and sophisticated, focusing on the area’s proximity to dessert sand and sea, rather than cliche “safari” inspired interiors.
The lobby uses natural stones and materials as a backdrop to the amazing rain drop shaped glass sculpture suspended from the two storey ceiling. I also love the ring inlays below.
The corridors are architecturally interesting, and the carpet is beautiful.
As with most guestrooms in hotels, the bed and headboard are the star of the show. Backlit acrylic panels frame a padded headboard to create a large art piece in the room that is quite stunning. The sandy textured carpet and glass walls of the bathroom play up the sand and sea theme once again.

It is wonderful to see fabulous and inspirational design in the most unusual places. I love the fact that parts of the decor reflect the physical aspects of Namibia
